Meet Our Staff – Gayle

Gayle worked as an optician for Weber Vision Care in the late 90s at the Elmerton Ave. location. She left for several years, but now she is back and reunited with the WVC team (even if it’s over a decade later!) Since November 2018, Gayle has been utilizing her 30+ years of optical experience at the “new” location. She is also a certified optician through the American Board of Opticianry (ABOC) and a Fellow of the National Academy of Opticianry (FNAO).
One of the most enjoyable parts of being an optician is helping a patient select lenses for the glasses. The technology has changed so much over the years. Lenses are not “one size fits all” and it is important to select a lens design that meets a patient’s visual demands. Gayle is also very service-oriented; She loves making a patient’s trip to the optical more than a yearly necessity. It’s all about caring and catering everyone’s individual needs.
Her favorite brand of frames are LINDBERG, of course. After attending a LINDBERG seminar in Brooklyn, NY, she developed an even greater appreciation for the brand’s innovation. “Every aspect of the design is so well thought-out. The frames are weightless and customizable.”
When Gayle isn’t at WVC, she is usually spending time with her husband. They like cooking (and shopping for fresh ingredients), playing cards, and travelling to D.C. for sporting events. If you spot Gayle relaxing pool-side, you can be sure she has extra cherries in her whiskey sour.
